Music doesn't get any better than this, period. It just takes time to hear it. :)

PorterRicks - Biokinetics. The reissue has the cool tracks but not the quality sound unfortunately compared to the original versions.

By "original versions" are you referring to the Chain Reaction 12'' EPs on vinyl?

Marsen Jules - Shadows in Time
Generative music, released in a standard static form on CD and with multiple unique, one-of-a-kind variants on USB and vinyl. The atmospherics are nice, but the listening gets a bit dull after a while. I wished the sounds evolved a bit more.

Biokinetics is awesome. Just had to add my two cents.

Azusa Plane - Tycho-Magnetic Anomaly and the Full Cons

Just discovered this yesterday and what happened to Jason DiEmilio, the man behind it, is really sad.

Thanks for the heads-up.  I've liked some of his earlier releases, but I have a feeling I probably wouldn't take to this.  Sounds like a longform piece that should have been a lot shorter.

I've been enjoying Christopher Short's latest one under the name, "Cosmicdreamscapes"--"Narration of Butterflies and a Crystalline Sky:"

Also enjoying Jeff Pearce's latest one, "Follow The River Home":

Very tasty processed guitar on both.

This new music has a quality to it that one might expect from 12K, but then it stops, that is something happens....melody dominates with elements of ambient for certain as well as subtle jazz and a soft pop feel to it.  The music is gentle, quite exquisite and tracks are short.  There is no chaos.  All ambience melts together with performed instruments to create a unique place to be.....12k meets ECM

I gave "Flooded" a listen and really enjoyed it. Great find!

語り部 - Halos
Digital only and "name your prince" on Bandcamp. Beautiful glacial drones and textures from a Russian artist with whom I'm unfamiliar. I think this will appeal to a lot of listeners here.

Chris, you might also like the Russian Pantheon label.  Some great floating/drone-basedambient there.  I heard about it from Richard Gurtler.  I've enjoyed these:

Growing - The Sky's Run Into The Sea

I've heard of them for a while but I never checked out their work until now. Great album so far.

Forrest: Thanks for the tips.  I really enjoyed Fellirium - Mermaids. Two of the tracks in particular (Ghost in the Water and Dreaming Fish) are outstanding.

Yeah, ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ label is highly recommended, Tim & Aloe are doing amazing work!!! And btw, you can find my review of "Mermaids" here on Hypnos forum, just go to Independent Music Reviews.  :)

My pleasure, Chris.  Thanks to Richard, too, for uncovering these obscure ambient gems.  The packaging for many of the Pantheon releases is exceptional, too.  The "Halos" release sounds interesting.  Have bookmarked it for further investigating...:)

I have been immersing myself in Tear Ceremony.....http://www.simulacrarecords.com/tearceremony/

Film Decay...Resin...Emulsion.  Film Decay is the one the really resonates with me.

And recent releases from Todd Gautreau aka Tear Ceremony under the name Tapes & Topographies....http://www.simulacrarecords.com/http/wwwcrushedstarscom/tapes-and-topographies/

Well worth checking out though I imagine the early works as Tear Ceremony from the late 1990's are familiar to most.....its new for me though.

Nacht Plank - Knowledge
Twenty-minute out-take track. Really cool: It is a looped recording of a child talking about something--I'm not exactly sure what, but it involves cookies--with Alien-like synths and effects layered on top. Haunting and mysterious.

The Angling Loser - Arena of Apprehension
The long-awaited follow up to 2013's Author of Twilight. As with the previous, this release focuses on pastoral ambient landscapes. This is pretty good, but it has at least one weak track (trk 2) that detracts from the whole. The guitar is less of a focus on this album than the previous one, which is too bad because the guitar tracks are what really define the unique sound for this project. The first track is brilliant and is worth a listen.

Pjusk & Sleep Orcestra....Drowning in the sky. Phenomenal ambience, field recordings and and and...Love it

Ishq - Space Simulator
I bought the digital version of this. The physical version is a box with a set of Polaroid photos and 6 mini-CDrs. The 6 tracks are designed to capture the sci-fi and space-inspired elements of Ishq's work. In some ways, this release feels more pure than some of the recent experimental albums released on Virtual. Each soundscape is a 20-minute drone, with subtle shifts and layers. It is peaceful and hypnotic. Great stuff.

Experiments in Silence - Encrypted Transmissions
New self-released CD. The EiS release on ...txt in 2014 was one of my favorites of the year. This new one is outstanding too, but is much more sequenced than the previous release. I think it would fit well in the Carpe Sonum catalog and is likely to appeal to many Fax fans. Great use of space, bass, and atmosphere.

Suso Saiz - Mirrors of Pollution

It's the only Suso Saiz album in my collection but I really like it. Also, I loved his guitar work in Suspended Memories.
