Hakobune and Dirk Serries - Obscured By Beams Of Sorrow

Some of the best ambient guitar soundscapes you'll find. A lovely album that reveals itself further with each listen.

I am glad other people are getting turned onto these. When I created the thread in the other part of the forum it seemed like only a couple people were into this music. Film Decay is my favorite of the Tear Ceremony albums as well.

Somewhere in the forum cvac I found a link to your top 50 or so ambient / industrial music releases perhaps the cratedigger link.  It was there that I saw you had The Tear Ceremony album Film Decay listed.  Thats how I discovered it. Thanks!

Akira Rabelais...."The Little Glass"

Interesting 2 cd release with a performance form Harold Budd.  Actually both artists are credited with piano parts but to me it all sounds like Budd. It is very quiet and restrained, even for Budd with a oddly beautiful sonic quality working in the softer to silent parts, perhaps this is Rabelais.  When I listened to the first cd it was what I had in mind and what I love about Harold Budds work but the second cd is Rabelais reworking of the first cd's music and it is fantastic.....pure shimmer ambience!

I got the cd, and I should mention its a cdr, from amazon in the usa but the Akira Rabelais Bandcamp site links Boomkat in the UKfor those across the pond. The packaging is old school plastic and somewhat cheaply made with cd Baby print on both discs and a very limited cd liner which lists track titles but no artist names or any other information. It plays perfectly but I guess I was expecting more in presentation then what seems like just an afterthought regarding the general packaging and design as is shown on the Boomkat website.

I really like that release, Julio. I ended up buying the digital on Bandcamp.

So is US Amazon selling a different product than what Boomkat was selling? I almost ordered from Boomkat months ago because the pics looked great. I think I'd flip out if I received a CDr on demand in cheap packaging.

Some recent listening:

Eliane Radigue - Trilogie de la Mort (3 CDs--I'm midway through this one.  Very subtle, soft textures that slowly pass through, with some mysterious and intense passages.  Best on headphones.)

Suicide (this was in transit when I heard its lead vocalist Alan Vega passed away.  Primitive, electronic and hypnotic.)

Hi Chris,

Yes....Boomkat say its an 8 panel digipack. I have a plastic 2 disc cd jewel case.  What I got through amazon is a cd baby replicate discs as I described.  Its a little odd.  I may just order it again from boomkat to find out

I have no worries that its a cdr but if Im going to invest in physical media I hope for the best in design and packaging.....what I got through amazon is not it. 9+ UK pounds seems a bit cheap for a 2 disc 8 panel digi, cdr or not.

Nice find. I got it, as well. Also picked up a couple new Earth Mantra releases on Bandcamp:

And the new release from Psychonavigation on BC,

There is no spoon. Which sucks because I have a pudding cup.

Eternell - Portals
Drifting and floating wisps of sound from Purl. This is fantastic; I wish it were on CD. There are two versions of this with slightly different mixes. I've linked the most recent below.

How is the second track?!?! Don't leave me hanging!

I ordered the CD, so it will be a few days before I'll get to hear it all. I'm excited.

Haha , understood. I got waylaid by the Walking Dead last night so had to make do with a listen to fall asleep to late last night. Track 2 in a similar vein of epicness  ;) both reminiscent of the Structures From Silence era/style as was hinted at. I am off to the Football this aft so a fuller, deeper listen this evening. I am very impressed so far .

Downloaded and thank you!  Always looking out for the blissful, or at least airier ambient these days...
