(the purple covers reflects the mood & sound nicely, track 5 is a real standout for me)

Synergy's 'Cords"''yes Dave, that's a good one!  Too bad there's really no such thing as a transparent CD (though I guess it would be a laser-mistracking nightmare).

I've found old MIDI file of "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky and listening to it right now. When I was 5 or 7 I was listening to Swan Lake, performed by big symphonic orchestra and I was completely impressed by its beauty. I think this first experience of listening gave me the big love to melodic music

I recently purchased Floating Whispers by Michael Stearns and have been listening to it pretty regularly.  What a lovely album.  Stearns made so much great music in the 80s.

In a similar vein, I also got the Imaginary Softwoods LP called Path of Spectrolite, which is neo-cosmic music by John Elliott of Emeralds.  Really beautiful music, all on vintage synths, I believe.

Been listening a lot to Encomiast- Winter's End; a terrific disc, one of those that you forget for a few years, then you put it back on, and say WOW.  A strong sense of yearning and... abandonment? Isolation?

Alexander Scriabin - Prometheus, the Poem of Fire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus:_The_Poem_of_Fire)
Listening to it every day. An incredible work with the most powerful ending I've ever heard in music. "Modern classical" music  from 1910. It's acquired taste and gets better with each listen.

Blood Box - Funeral in an Empty Room
Mindblowing album from this dark ambient maestro.

Lustmord - Songs of Gods and Demons
Veeery nice collection of pieces.

Kyle Bobby Dunn Ways of Meaning LP (Desire Path).  I think the subtitle here could be 'Selected Ambient (only) works from Selected Ambient Works II'.  Verry reminiscent of the Aphex classic minus the beats.  Not a criticism as countless artists have patterned themselves after RDJ - this one nails the ambient side and is well crafted and nostalgic.

Prefab Sprout Jordan : The Comeback.  Am pretty enamored w/ PS's 'Two Wheels Good' (or 'Steve McQueen' outside of the U.S.), so I wanted to investigate a bit more.  After reading the rapturous reviews, I was a bit let down by this.  The songwriting and lyricism are always the strong points with any PS track, but the early 90's synths (I love synths, these just sound dated) and campy tracks sprinkled throughout do not make up for the (mostly) strong song structures.

Motion Sickness of Time Travel - Seeping Through the Veil of Unconscious LP (Digitalis).  Vintage synths (sound great here...) gauzy ambience on Side 1, cinematic passages on Side 2.  Recommended for fans of Emeralds (the newer material) and all their infinite side-projects.

Loscil :: Coast / Range / Arc  Bit of a change for Loscil. I find this much more drone based and visual, with a good heft to it as well. Nice.

Hugh Hopper :: Hopper Tunity Box  From the mid 70's, a classic bit of crazy jazz-fusion in the immortal Soft Machine style.
