Such a good week for ambient! Releases from some of my favorite artists (i.e., Ludvig/Purl, Warmth, Halftribe) all dropped on July 19th:

The new Loscil album is lovely: smooth, somewhat dark, and just the right touch of slow-moving melodic shifts:

Jarguna -Prospettive Animiche
Projekt just released two new digital-only albums from this artist, both of which are fantastic. There is less percussion in this release compared to the previous, so I like it more. Very spacious.

James Bernard - Fragments
I fell in love with this right away: Slow moving soundscapes that suspend, glide, and levitate. New, on the impressive PITP label.

Kelly David: Meditation In Green

Beautiful, ephemeral stuff, mixing subtle electronics, field recordings and Vietnamese instruments.
There is no spoon. Which sucks because I have a pudding cup.

I was begging for this one since "Angkor", my dreams came true...

Yeah, Chris, agree 100%, "Fragments" is a true masterwork by James Bernard, just ordered a CDr copy from PITP. I simply couldn't miss this beauty!!! All the best and keep on creating!!!

Mick Chillage - Epinaz
I'm absolutely in love with this new release. Slow moving, with quirky melodies and sequences. I always enjoy his work, but occasionally--this being one such time--he absolutely blows me away.

Listening to Mick's Epinaz right now. Really is something special. And has to be said the Neotantra label is right up my street. Every release so far is excellent. Consistent, high quality ambience of the highest order.

PS Cell in Ibiza is a superb album. I live in hope for another Cell release.

^ I also recommend Arte Magnetica and Splendid Labyrinths by Max Corbacho.

Telomere - Supergiant

Absolutely fantastic.

Here are a few things I've been listening to lately that I've really enjoyed:

Andrew Heath & Anne Chris Bakker | a gift for the Ephemerist
Field recordings, guitar, and melancholy piano notes.

Shorelights | AI-16: Bioluminescence
New Astral Industries release featuring some of the slowed down, ambient atmosphere of Modell and Wasacz. The first Shorelights CD is still one of my favorite CDs of the last few years. This one is great too.

Anaamaly - Love Frequency
Ok, I'll admit it. I like new age music too. This long-form track is a beautiful mixture of what might be billed as new age, but drawing mostly upon techniques and atmospheres that are more common in what might awkwardly be called "the kind of ambient people on the Hypnos Forums tend to like." Check it out. It is amazing.

A piece I have listened to for years:

It always makes me feel ... guilty.
And that is good.

We should not be complaisant.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hilyard - Somnolent
A brief, three-track release. Soft drones with some excellent melodic hooks. Lots of repeat-spins around here!
