Maybe absurd question... but What is the best Ambient CD to have sex to ?
I guess the more sensual kind...

Somnium...Forgotten rituals...A Troubled Resting Place ?

Well you don't wanna SCARE your girl out of the bed, do you?....

My recommendation: Harold Budd/Cocteau Twins "The Moon and the Melodies"

In my experience females don't "get" ambient music, especially the dark stuff, so keep it light n'ethereal...

Yes, but she is a young metalgirl (18), I do not want something too cheesy either.
However, I want to learn her to like ambient more and make her calm down little bit. Not sure where to start.
I think she would like a good balance between darkness and lightness.

I also want something rather dynamic.

I will download that album you recommend me.

Wayne Higgins

Anything by Oenyaw.  It'll last longer than you will, guarented! ;)
So, I'm a "Sr Member", huh?  In June it's SENIOR DISCOUNT TIME!!!

Youngblood

Steve Roach "Body Electric" has been a long time favorite of mine. I wish it still worked for my lady... ;)

Youngblood

Oh, and Robert Rich "Propagation" is pretty sexy too.

Thanks for these two recommendations, will have a deeper listen to them right now, and see what I think.

I think... Paul Vnuk Jr. - Silence Speaks in Shadow

could be a really good alternative too..forgot about that album...  It has a relaxing feel is both dark and light and relaxing...and the rainy sounds gives it a cosy atmosphere.

For erections lasting more than four hours, be sure to put on some Oenyaw. :D
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing.

Try Steve Roach and company's The Serpent's Lair.  Rhythmic and cool as it is, it's also pretty dark and twisted in places.

Ein Sophistry

With beats:

Cell - Hanging Masses
David Helpling & John Jenkins - Treasure
Mathias Grassow, Klaus Wiese, Carsten Agthe - Holy Domain
Temps Perdu? - Terra Incognita
vidnaObmana - Parallel Flaming
Yagya - Rigning; Will I Dream During the Process?

Without beats:

Harold Budd & Robin Gurthrie - Before the Day Breaks (last track has beats/gets louder; may want to skip. Then again...)
James Johnson & Vir Unis - Easting
Mathias Grassow - Elixer
Robert Davies - Garden of Twilight
Robert Rich & Lisa Moscow - Yearning
Rudy Adrian - Moonwater
Thom Brennan - Mist

drone on

I actually had sex to that Budd/Guthrie CD and we both started laughing when the last track got all bombastic like a "climax" of sorts...

Lustmord -- Carbon Core seems to be the right stuff for you guys...

In case you want  to perform a somewhat extended session, ParsickĀ“s Permafrost will have you covered (shameless plug...).

I suppose it depends on whether the music is centre stage or adding to the atmosphere.

I tend to go very inactive physically when listening to ambient music so it's never been something I've thought of doing as it might only suit tantric style sex..... ::)

phobos

Is this another sub genre then?  Shagbient ;D

Here's where a bunch of ambient geeks act like they've actually BEEN with a lady.

Tell me, squire... what was it like?

...and that my friend, just made my day.

Everyone knows all the ambient geeks have never seen a woman let alone been with one - and all of us pretending we've been married forever are obviously lying or have created the perfect woman in computer software.  ;-)
