Speaking of Australian bands, did you ever hear of Skyhooks? 
Yes, they're another fairly influential Australian band, who went on to influence later australian bands such as Custard. They were never really my cup of tea, but they did write 'women in uniform' which as you will probably know Wayne, was covered by Iron Maiden. A very unusual choice for maiden, I always felt.
