WURM SERIES

WÜrm is the name of the world's most recent glaciation which ended around 10000 years ago and have occurred in the Pleistocene epoch. The term WÜrm comes from a river in the Alps where the glaciation was first identified. During the height of glaciation, most of Europe and Eurasia was open steppe-tundra, while the Alps presented solid ice fields and montane glaciers. Scandinavia and much of Britain were under ice.

Immense white expanses...infinite silences...sunrays reflected by eternal icefields...every release of this new series will be a circular, slowly-unfolding and ethereal long-form musical piece, in which the artist will describe this endless Ice Age, its eternal ice, the blinding white light, the abyssal silence. Music will transport the listener to peaceful and unexplored lands.

WURM SERIES I : OOPHOI    "an aerial view " CD digipack

" When I've been asked to describe the Ice Age with an uninterrupted drone, I knew I wanted to avoid the cliches of the genre: dark rumblings, massive low frequencies, cold atmospheres. I had to describe with sounds the white landscape, the blinding light reflected by the frozen oceans, the abyssal silence.I have imagined myself in flight over this Sleeping Earth, a solitary winged-being surrounded by winds, air, water and ice. This led me to compose an airy drone with minimal variations and delicate tones, an hommage to a pure, incontaminated and remote land."

I just ordered the Oophoi and Rapoon CD's this morning from GM. I hate the Euro conversion.... ;-( >$50 for two discs! I think I'll wait next time for getting them thru someplace in the US....but still looking forward to them. I believe I have both of the others (I know I have Cryosphere and think I got Netherworld...not I gotta go dig em up).

The strong Euro is seriously crimping my music acquisitions. We need a welfare rate for those of us buying CDs with play money. I certainly hope US labels are sending lots of CDs across the pond. I know if the Euro was 2/3 of a dollar I'd have a six foot stack of discs to sort through.

The conversion rate isn't doing us any favpours on this side of the 'pond' either....ok for buying but baaad for selling....and due to interest charges those of us in debt can't do much buying either!!!

Brian Bieniowski

I'm looking forward to this—the sound sample is intriguing.

For all of those in the Euro/Dollar position (I feel your pain, since I just got hosed on the conversion when I bought the two new Alio Die/Hic Sunt Leones CDs), Glacial Movements is sold at Soleilmoon.  They ought to have copies soon, I would guess.   8)

Darkened Soul--
You could have ordered Rapoon's GM disc from www.rapoon.net for (I think I paid) $18, or could have been $16, shipping included.  Direct ordernig from Mr. Storey has been very cost effective for me. :-)

Wow, that was fast.  This just showed up in my mailbox today.  Although this is one long track, it does change direction throughout into some different zones.  Very ambient and quiet work, not too experimental or dark and quite pastoral in spots.  The artwork is great, too, like the previous GM releases.

Yeah, I'll probably hold off getting things from across the pond if I can get them in the US from other places, like the artists themselves. I'll try to remember next time!

Well I am currently listening to Rapoon - Time Frost. I am really enjoying the final track - Ice Whispers - which clocks in at over 34 mins in length! It's shimmering movement and darker tone is awesome! The others were on the lighter side for me but were ok. But the last one is definitely my favorite as it shifts/shimmers along the way. Nicely done!

Next up is Oophoi's An Aerial View.
