If I had to flee the country without much notice, these would be the three 2013 releases I would take with me:

1. ASC - Time Heals All (Silent Season)
2. The Seaman and the Tattered Sail - Light Folds (Facture)
3. Ashes of Piemonte - Datura Notes (Twice Removed)

Here are some other 2013 releases (or Dec 2012 releases) that I thought were great. In some cases I liked them because, well, they conformed well to the prototype of the kind of ambient music I enjoy. In other cases I liked them because they challenged that prototype just a little bit, forcing me to listen more deeply.

Billow Observatory - Billow Observatory (Felte)
Aglaia - Hymns (Hic Sunt Leones) (prob not just a recency effect)
Ithaca Trio - Music for Piano & Patience (Home Normal) (probably a recency effect; will have to see how well it holds up)
Resonant Drift - Full Circle (Flow Space Music/FloBob Music)
The Angling Loser - Author of the Twilight (Time Released Sound)
Viryln - Man Asleep (ETALABEL)
Martin Fuhs - Grauton (self-released; digital only)
Orla Wren - Book of the Folded Forest (Home Normal)
Antonymes - There Can Be No Beauty Without Decay (Hibernate)

I purchased this year mostly downloads (lossless) and a few CDs.I do tend to listen for music that is similar to my past likes but that has a slightly new feel to it.

Deepchord-Electrostatic Soundfields
Blamstrain-Sunday Dub Live
Material Object-Indiana Drones/Ambient Mix 4
Ashtoreth's Gate-Shadow of the Bowman
Steve Hillage-Dreamtime Submersibles
BOC-Reach for the dead
Variant-Thru the Cosmos
The Angling Loser-Author of the Twilight

Thanks everyody for these lists.  Interesting stuff!  Lots of googling today for some of this music I missed...

I just listened to the Namlook tribute online last night and the tracks by former Fax contributors (Laswell, Hawtin, Rother, Dr. Atmo, etc.) are stunning.  I'm told the CD box set will be out end of January.  Hence, didn't include it on my list for 2013, but I'm sure it'll be there next year.  Also found out Ear-Rational, FAx's US distributor, has been releasing some CD's that were intended for Fax before Peter's untimely death.  Label is called Carpe Sonum.  So far they put out Indiana Drones by Material Object & Phonaut, and upcoming is a new Mick Chillage album called Saudade.

Oh yeah, and I missed a very limited edition Move D album called "The Silent Orbiter" CD that was dedicated to Namlook.   LOVE David Moufang.  Damn!

Steve Hillage-Dreamtime Submersibles

It is that a new album, or is that Hilllage's and Evan Marc's "Dreamtime Submersible", that was actually from 2008?  Just curious because if it's something new I'd love a sequel or any new material- the album I'm thinking of is excellent.

Really looking forward to that one from the  ...txt label. Also on ...txt,  waiting on the new Nachtplank and LAN - Itallian Works. Missed out on Spacebound from Ishqmatics but that is due for a download release soon I believe.

I just bought Spacebound by Ishqamatics at Databloem.  If you want it I'd check to see if they still have it.

Bought this on vinyl with a free download. Still haven't listened to this enough to do its quality justice. It is a great chunk of BOC which has been long awaited.

Will have to wait and get "spacebound" on download as massive music spend overload has been reached............well almost  ;)

This was fun to revisit. In retrospect, I would add Nacht Plank's Psychology of Religion and Understanding St. Catherine to my list. I don't think I heard this until 2014 and it stays in heavy rotation.
