Apparently we are going to get a new series of Twin Peaks !!

I'm really excited about this. It could turn out to be, well, bad. But I'm going to hope for the best.

We used to have Twin Peaks parties in 90/91, complete with pie, coffee, and donuts. Happy memories.

The Lynch-directed episodes were always the coolest... and he's directing all of the new episodes.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm trying to balance the nostalgia with the realities of how the show has aged and what story Lynch may have to tell "25 years later."

I can't deny reliving how much fun it was then. My friends and I were all-in on the show; Viewing parties, coffee, donuts, the books, the music. Just about every "quirky," unconventional show made in the last 20+ years owes its existence to Twin Peaks, and maybe that's its true legacy; How much it changed the landscape of television forever.

I'm very excited about this. Sure, it's possible it might be a train wreck, but Lynch and Frost have had a long time to think about how they might follow up what they did on the show. Also, the run of shows is only 9 episodes, so that's short enough to keep both Lynch and Frost engaged through the entire run.

Now, if the 9 are successful and Showtime orders another 7 seasons, I'll be a little worried...

It hasn't aired yet; I'm not sure if they've finished filming or production. Anyone have some updates from the dark corners of the interwebs?

I'm guessing that David Bowie is unlikely to appear. His "appearance" was the coolest part of Fire Walk With Me imo.

Just saw the first episode.
Unique, twisted, and brilliant ...
as usual.

I've really been enjoying the season so far. But I have to confess: It took me a while to adjust. I was kind of hoping for or expecting a new season that would bring back some of the old characters (Dale Cooper in particular) and combine a sense of mystery with some good ole fashioned quirk. Instead, this has been a bit of a post-TP Lynch fest, reminding me at times more of Lost Highway and Inland Empire than Twin Peaks.

But, other than missing classic Coop, I'm digging it. Better than Season 2. The last two episodes in particular have been really interesting.

Anyone else still watching?

I've been really enjoying it too. Yes, more a festival of curiosities than a narrative continuation of the earlier series ... especially the Got a Light episode (that was astonishingly unexpected and viscerally gripping) (and excellent). Harks back to before Twin Peaks. Great to have something artistic and experimental that flies in the face of reality so well.

The last 10 mins or so of the Got a Light? episode were horrifying. And fascinating. What an odd combination of feelings. . .
