You priced this at $6.66?  Is that a joke?  Because I would never support any artist that is a Satanist.

I think it's a legitimate concern for thirdsystem and drone on to have:

The music from the previews seems dark, but were you intending to invoke/celebrate the devil and/or the AntiChrist by invoking that number??  If so, I could see how some might be offended.

I can't speak for others, but I thought Diatonis' response was kind of flip.  Telling prospective fans to "get a clue"--not a great way to engender good will.  (I'm familiar with his prior work, BTW).

Flip is right.  Get a clue about what?  So the "666" was a joke? 

I never accused anyone of being a devil worshipper.  I asked the question if he was a Satanist.  Freedom of speech says express your opinion and believe what you want to believe, and release music if you want to release it.  That's fine.  If you want to worship the Devil, knock yourself out.  But if an artist was a Satanist I would not support anything they do. 

Because there was no denial to my question, I will not even click on the track previews.  Good luck.

Have to say, I'm pretty surprised to see this pricing decision elicit so much drama here. I'm speaking only of the initial responses. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I just assumed this was an artist not as well known for darker ambient music having a little fun with some of the more cliched tropes of the genre. Even if I did have reason to suspect the price reflected a sincere religious conviction, the label "Satanist" is pretty damned uninformative. A self-identified Satanist is at least as likely to be a nature-loving peacenik or a theatrically inclined but otherwise harmless atheist as the depraved caricature the term traditionally connotes.

It's a fine album, btw.

I heartily disagree.  The number symbolizes the antichrist, destruction of God's creation, and hell on Earth.  Not exactly nature loving peacenik from what I can tell.  Also a Satanist and atheist are two completely different belief systems.  But again, no one is accusing here.  It's just an extremely odd number to choose as the price of a download, which could elicit unintended responses from some.  That's all.

If Black Sabbath ever released an album called, "Get A Clue," I wouldn't buy it!   

(That said, I remember listening to "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" as a kid, but it seemed campy to me.    )

I agree, the term 'Satanist' is usually bandied around in an uninformed manner. Most so-called 'Satanists' are just playing at it. Pan / negative energy archetypes worship has been around for a long time before it was referred to as anything to do with the christian 'Devil'. I think there are individuals around whose actions are most suitable to be described as 'satanic' - psychopathic individuals in power, who create war and famine for their own goals.

Back on topic, I think Stuart's response may well have been a reaction to a critical initial response.

In respect of Sabbath, I think much of their music and lyrics makes one think deeply about life, the universe and everything. Both sides of the coin. This is a good thing.

Hey at the end of the day I personally was not comfortable with the 6.66. Humble apologies for mentioning it. I also felt the reply was poor. At the end of the day there has been a discussion and opinions shared. This is also good. The lad has had a fair bit of interest generated , perhaps said pricing is a good marketing tool.

Each to their own. Love , peace and harmony is the way forward

Yeah, a lot of Satanists are like that. They basically view Satan as a part of nature but in the background. The self is more emphasized than Satan.

That being said, I don't blame people for being uncomfortable with Satanism and the occult in general.

I was finding it peculiar that both Third System (who took my ribbing gracefully) and Drone On are self-proclaimed Black Sabbath fans but still took offence to (what I am guessing was intended humourously for a black ambient album presentation) a number overused in pop culture and jokes (ie "668 - the neighbour of the beast") and with a decimal point which really makes it a different number.

I did note that you can buy the 6 tracks individually for .99 each = $5.94    ...     Problem solved!
