What were some of your favorite ambient recordings from 2017?

Here are some releases that I was especially fond of. They are listed roughly in the order they were released. A surprising number of them came from the ARCHIVES label this year--a label that spans ambient techno to ambient soundscapes.

Yoyu - Ordinary Moon
My favorite of the year. Field recordings, loops, and beauty.

Snufmumriko - At First Light
Glitchy lo-fi ambient.

Eternell (Purl) - Children of Infinity
Majestic and spacious ambient, featuring a lot of acoustic guitar.

Halftribe - Daydreams in Low Fidelity
Glitchy but smooth.

Warmth - Home
Drones with slowly unfolding movements.

Ishq - Sen
A mix of experimental Ishq and the more magical and Elve-ish soundscapes.

Andrew Heath and Anne Chris Baker - Lichtzin
Like a mysterious puzzle, with pieces that gradually come together.

Rod Modell - Dawn, Dusk, and Darkness
(No digital version available.) Beautiful compositions based on beatless ambient washes and field recordings. The melodies are subtle and hypnotic.

Tangerine Dream - Quantum Gate
Quaeschning & Schnauss - Synthwaves
Bridge to Imla - The Radiant Sea
Northaunt - Nightpaths
Randall Collier Ford - Remnants
John Serrie - The Sentinel
Steve Roach - The Passing
Mick Chillage - Exulansis
Between Interval - Legacy

I have mainly been buying more FAX albums this year, catching up with Pete Namlook's wonderful legacy. Just about there with my FAX collection now.

I also have a couple of albums I am away to get with my bandcamp voucher which will be on the above list I suspect. Krystian Sheck - al-Qāhirah, on Carpe Sonum for one.

What I have been playing more than anything else:

Rheyne :: Live Jams #161-180

Marcus Fischer :: Loss

Kiasmos :: Blurred EP

Sonmi451 :: Panta Rei

I've been playing these two more than most of the above.
Not from 2017, but I only got them in 2017:

r beny :: full blossom of the evening

Deru :: 1979
The Circular Ruins / Lammergeyer / Nunc Stans

The Circular Ruins / Lammergeyer / Nunc Stans

I think this was released in 2017, but I can't make enough effort to be sure:

Taylor Deupree - Somi
Robert Davies - River's Edge
Steve Pacheco - Constellate
Warmth - Home

Halftribe - Daydreams in Low Fidelity - The bestest of the best by far.  An ambient/experimental soft noise, clicky, loopy composition that will easily endure the test of time.  This might be my #1 Ambient/Experimental album for the past 5 years.  Definitely in the top 5.

Thanks to Chris for making me aware of the excellent label Archives.   :)

Glad to hear Halftribe is rubbing off on someone else! Such a great release.

Panta Rei is in my top 10 for 2017.  It might be number six?  Sonmi 451 - The Limbus System is an older release worth purchasing and remastering.   :o

Glad to hear Halftribe is rubbing off on someone else! Such a great release.

The previous Halftribe releases such as Luxia did not tickle my fancy to the same extent, but they are on my revolving purchase radar.  Looking forward to Halftribe's next release on Dronarivm soon.  If it's half as good as DDiF, I will buy it to support the artist.
