Hello, everyone here!

I've just decided to join the Hypnos Forum after reading an older discussion here (about the not-so-well received lecture of Mark Prendergast on "The History of Ambient Music" back in 2013) which I found interesting and amusing...

While probably some of the members here know me already from other places, I'd like to briefly introduce myself to the rest of You (just in case anyone is curious  ;) ):

My full name is Michael Brückner, I'm originally from Heidelberg, Germany, was born in late 1969 and dabble in electronic music (ambient and otherwise) since around 1992 (back then triggered by the experience of mantra and kirtan singing in a Yoga group).

Like many later electronic musicians, I had been an avid listener and record collector long before I started to create my own stuff; my musical tastes however were (and still are) very broad and by far not limited to ambient music (or similar). On the other hand, quiet, introspective or also sound-centered music, electronic or otherwise, were part of my interest from an early age on.

The list of ambient artists and from neighbouring genres who I love would be a long, but probably obvious one and maybe much the same than anyone's here, so I'd just like to say that I'm especially a long-time admirer of Klaus Schulze, and more recently (due to some twists of fate I discovered his music only a few years ago) of Robert Rich. And because he often gets overlooked in this context, I'd like to give special mention to Peter-Michael Hamel...  ;)

As for my own humble contributions, during the past 20+ years I have released a number of albums, most of them self-released, more recently also on different small labels.

My own music is rather varied when it comes to electronic sub-genres (reflecting my personal ecclectic taste), however in the past 10 years, I concentrated more on (often drone based) ambient and "Neo Berlin School".

I also perform live whenever I get a chance to (which, unfortunately, has only rarely been the case so far...  :o )

Obviously, I don't earn a living with music - but as a graphical designer and also printing technician instead.

Happy to be here - have a nice day, everyone!

hi, michael!

maybe you already know them, but nevermind, a highly recommendable small-but-not-bad german netlabel:

www.spheredelic.com

I'm sure, they will be happy to release an album from you (as I just lisened to your 'sufi sushi' at bandcamp:))

peter-michael hamel is a genius in his own right - I learned a lot from his (in germany often pioneering) musical understanding and perceptions.
(another - not truely ambient:) outstanding artist: klaus wiese r.i.p. (certainly you know him.)

bst wishes for your work,
fabio

Hm, Spheredelic - sure the name seems familiar; if I recall it correctly, they released a compilation where I had contributed a track...

Thanks for the tip, in any case!  :)

Well, I know him by now, but became aware of him only a short while ago, via Mathias Grassow.
